Fortnite: Battle Royale’s New 50 vs. 50 Mode Is Enjoyable And Fun

Epic Games has released a new limited time game mode in Fortnite Battle Royale that is a 50 vs 50 team battle. After playing this mode for several hours, I have to say it’s very fun and highly enjoyable.

When it comes to online multiplayer shooting games, I’m usually pretty useless at them. I’m better online in fighting and sports games. However, Fortnite is different and I have been enjoying it for several months already thanks to the Battle Royale mode.

Well from now until December 17th, a new mode called “50 vs. 50” is available for free to all Fortnite players. Instead of small teams, you now team up with one big team against a huge enemy army.

The great thing about this mode is that you don’t have to really rush because not everybody out there is trying to kill you like in Solo. I managed to collect a lot of resources without dying allowing me to build bridges, forts and other helpful things for my teammates.

If you’re the type of player that likes to build the ‘Stairway to Heaven’, this mode is perfect for you. Your teammates usually try and kill the enemy so your bridge won’t collapse as often as it did in the other game modes in Fortnite.

This mode also allows you to somewhat have a second life. If you get shot, you will get ‘knocked out’ giving your teammates a small window of time to revive you. Most players are helpful, although there was a funny moment when somebody ignored me even though the enemy wasn’t in sight!

Despite me historically being bad at online shooters, I managed to survive to be the last remaining member of my teams several times. Some scenarios had me vs. 10 enemy fighters while the most I ever encountered was me vs. 20 fighters!

Obviously I didn’t win these encounters, but it was thrilling to try and act as the Rambo/Hero of my team. Going commando against an enemy that had me outnumbered was humorous to me for some reason. Like I said before, I didn’t win but there aren’t that many games out there that have a scenario like this and it made me laugh. Not to mention this encouraged me to play even more games to get better.

There were matches where my team won, although I was far from the best player. I didn’t mind helping out giving teammates cover or supplies though. I’m usually the individual that collects as much wood as possible so this helped my team a lot. It’s similar somewhat to playing as Mercy in Overwatch. A terrible player like myself can still feel good by helping others out there.

You can also use voice chat to communicate with team members and meet up with others along the way. The pace of matches is cool and it doesn’t feel like the annoying chaotic pace other multiplayer shooters like the COD series and more.

I managed to play this mode on both PS4 and Xbox One X and the community is mostly great on both consoles. I haven’t played PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds yet, but it will be cool if that game adds its own 50 vs. 50 mode or something similar to it.

Hopefully Epic Games considers keeping 50 vs. 50 as a permanent addition to Fortnite. For now, try and play it as much as possible while it’s available. It’s super fun even if you aren’t great at shooters like myself!
