Hellraid Announced by Techland, Coming to Current-Gen Systems

Hellraid Announced by Techland, Coming to Current-Gen Systems

Hellraid

Techland, whose notable work includes Dead Island and Call of Juarez, has just lifted the veil on their next title Hellraid, previously known as Project Hell. The game swaps out zombies and gunslingers for warriors, paladins, mages and rogues. These adventurers travel through Hell, offing its twisted inhabitants. Much like Dead Island, this first-person slasher’s story-driven campaign can be played alone or with up to three friends as you make your way through the underworld. However, Techland is looking to mix things up by adding “coopetition” which has players competing with friends “for points and rewards.”

Hellraid is looking to take inspiration from three game tpyes: hack ‘n slash RPGs, First-Person Shooters and Online Multiplayer. Combine this with “exploration, looting, questing, weapon crafting, boss fights, armor customization, character development, leaderboards, magic” and you have the recipe for a game that could truly shine. Here’s hoping that Hellraid doesn’t share Dead Island: Riptide’s fate and that it gives us more than enough of a reason to go to Hell (and return regularly). Hellraid is set to release this year on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. At this time, no plans for next-gen systems have been revealed.
