If you are thinking of getting the Hidden Secrets DLC for Assassin’s Creed 3, you might want to wait until the DLC is finished downloading to prevent your save data from being wiped out.
According to a few people over at the Ubisoft forums, they lost their save data as soon as they loaded the game while the DLC was downloading. Ubisoft acknowledged the problem and are warning their fans to not play the game while the patch is downloading. Instead, wait for it to be completely finished first, then you can safely load the save data.

Just a quick heads up, we’re able to reproduce this issue at the studio and are working on a fix/workaround. From what we can tell, this problem seems to be rare and should generally only affect a very small number of players. That said, we’re taking the speedy and complete resolution of this very seriously.

Hidden Secrets DLC is now available for those who purchased the season pass. For non-season pass owners, you’ll have to wait until the 11th to purchase the DLC separately.
