I Am Alive rises from the ashes with new comback trailer

Ubisoft’s I Am Alive has had a bit of a turbulent development cycle, initially being developed by Darkworks studios but then passing hands to Ubisoft’s Shanghai based development suite. What was originally going to be a full on AAA title has also been somewhat downgraded to a downloadable release on the XBLA and PSN, with the PC version of the game being scrapped entirely for the time being.

I Am Alive is set in a Chigaco that’s just been hit by a devastating earthquake, separating it from the mainland, while the rest of the world copes with a water crisis. As protagonist Adam Collins it’s your job to see that the games title remains fact and that you do, indeed, remain alive. Taking some gameplay influences from Uncharted and tonal ones from post-apocalyptic games in general such as Fallout and Metro 2033, I Am Alive sees you evading ruthless gangs, scaling fallen buildings and hunting to ensure your survival.

Check out the trailer and see if this particular piece of post-apocalyptic survival game floats your boat. No release date is confirmed as of yet but the end of the trailer promises ‘this winter’.
