Many PS3 owners and Gears of War fans will be disappointed at the news that Gears of War 3 will not be coming to the PS3. In the words of Epic Games Design Director Cliff Blezsinski it’s not “going to happen anytime soon.”
When asked in an interview on electricpig.co.uk, about Gears of War 3 he bluntly said “I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon.” The deal Microsoft made with Epic Games which would make Gears of War Microsoft exclusive seems to have done the trick of limiting Gears of War to the XBOX 360. Some PS3 users still have a faint glimpse of hope that maybe, just maybe, one day Gears of War will be released to the Sony user market.
“I think our current set with Microsoft dictates that for us internally it makes more sense for Gears to remain a 360 franchise for the foreseeable future…plus I don’t like the PlayStation 3 controller.”
For the Epic Games team, choosing to keep Gears of War as 360 exclusive seems to work better for the whole team. Unfortunately if you want Gears of War, you’ll be needing an XBOX 360.
