In addition of players doing optional quest in Dragon Quest IX after finishing the game, the player can seek out powerful bosses that requires a good and lengthy preparation.
With over a hundred of treasure maps that a player can acquire, there are a total of twelve bosses that resides deep inside the grottoes. The following bosses are just regular ones and doesn’t include the Legacy Bossess which includes; Dhoulmagus from Dragon Quest VIII, Estark from Dragon Quest IV, and a lot more.
The following bosses will appear on the game based on the treasure maps that a player is doing. Please take note that their appearance may vary.

greygnarl has tons more HP then 1770. You are thinking of the magamroo boss, greygnarl doesn’t look the same and is stronger then old greygnarl. ( for one he is pure white, and flying not on the ground. )
