Here in Just Push Start, we take reviewing games very seriously. We rate games from the scale of 0 being the lowest to 5 being the highest. Each score has its own definitions and meaning. Have a look on Just Push Start’s Scoring Definition to have a better understanding on our scores:
5 – PERFECT
Scoring a 5 out of 5 means that the game is perfect, or at least as close to being perfect as a game can get. It might have a few small flaws but those can be overlooked and ignored considering the game’s overall greatness. It will receive an Editor’s Choice Award and we at JPS give a high regard to the publisher and developer of the game. Perfect games are rare, but games that are awarded this score are a must-have for any gamer!
4.5 – VERY GOOD
When a game scores a 4.5 out of 5, it means that the game is exceptional but falls short of a perfect score due to some minor flaws. It is considered an Editor’s Choice and will receive the Editor’s Choice Award badge at the end of our review. We recommend games of this quality to all gamers, although we do advise they look at our NOT section to view our concerns for the games.
4 – GOOD
A game scoring a 4 out of 5 means that hardcore fans of the genre will love it while non-fans might not. Games with this score are good, solid titles that will appeal to a wide range of players.
3.5 – DECENT
A 3.5 out of 5 score on a review means the game is decent. We advise gamers to look closely at the HOTs and NOTs sections of our review before considering purchasing a game with this score.
3 – AVERAGE
Games that receive a 3 out of 5 are considered average. Although they might have some redeeming qualities, these are almost always balance out by serious flaws. Average games might be worth playing for fans of a particular genre or series, but for most players they will be nothing special.
2.5 – FAIR
When a game receives a score of 2.5 out of 5, the negatives clearly outweigh the positives. We don’t really recommend the game, as there are certainly better games to play.
2 – BAD
Receving a 2 out 5 score should be a red flag for every gamer out there. We do not recommend wasting time or money on games that receive this score, as they have serious issues that make them not worthwhile.
1.5 – 1 – POOR
When a game receives a 1.5-1 on our scale, it is so extraordinarly bad that it seems as if the developer or producer must have made a conscious effort to make a game that sucks so tremendously. Needless to say, we have very few things to say about these games in our HOTs section, and an overabundance of grievances NOTs.
.5 – 0 STAY AWAY
A game receiving a .5 to 0 out of 5 is one of the worst games that we have ever had the misfortune of playing. It’s possible that games this bad caused our reviewers to actually burst into tears, and we strongly advise players to avoid them at all costs.
