Child of Light released a couple days ago for a number of platforms; however, it has been revealed that the game will be receiving a patch in the future, which will feature at least one very strange change.
In the current release, the two difficulty levels are known as “normal” and “hard,” but the new patch will change them to “casual” and “expert.” Writer Jeffrey Yohalem spoke about the reason in a livestream with Joystiq.
This has been an issue, obviously, that some people have had, and I think that the word ‘normal’ is a misrepresentation …. Or, rather, implying that there’s one way to play that’s normal is, I think, too strong.
Casual is for people that want to experience the world and experience the adventure without having hard combat, and then expert is for people who love RPGs and who want to really have a challenge.
This is definitely one of the strangest reasons for a patch I’ve ever seen, but they must feel it is needed to spend the time on it.
