Review: Fire Emblem Awakening

Relationship System
Did you know that you can marry someone in Awakening? Yes, depending on the relationships you build within your characters, there will be a point in the game where you can marry someone of the opposite sex and have kids. It seems that in Awakening, the developer puts a heavy emphasis on how relationships work. Not only by pairing them up increases their relationship levels, the conversations you unlock will increase it even more. The more pairing you do in battle, the more possibilities you can open, making the storyline interesting to uncover and play. Not only the story of the game offers something unique, it also has some quirky and humorous lines that will make you smile along the way.

Street Pass Feature
If you have a friend who is getting the game or live in area where there are a lot of people playing the game, you will be able to take advantage of the game’s Street Pass feature. When you come across a people who owns the game as well, the Tactician will appear in your game and will be able to challenge them. If you somehow manage to win, you will then get the character you just beat and will be part of your party. In addition to the wireless function, fans can expect maps where they can download for free or pay through the Nintendo 3DS eShop, adding more hours to your gameplay.

NOT

Can Get Really Hard
If you don’t have enough patience in the game, there will be times you will be annoyed. At the later levels in the game, the difficulty of battles will increase dramatically. If you happen to play the classic mode, expect someone will die in your party. Those who don’t want to lose a party member, it’s best to stay at the casual style to save you from having headaches when the characters you raise will just die later in the game. Gamers who are looking for a challenge will love the game while others will simply hate it and give up.

VERDICT

Editor's Choice AwardTo date, Fire Emblem Awakening is one of the best games that you can own on the Nintendo 3DS. As someone who has played previous Fire Emblem games, it’s a pleasure to see Awakening adapt so many good things from previous titles and enhance it even further to make it stand out. The use of the relationship and pairing system works really well in the game in terms of shaping up the story into far more better. Those who are looking for a strategy RPG game that will guarantee that you’ll enjoy for the weeks and months to come, Fire Emblem Awakening is the game to go, though you must really be patient and know the word ‘death’ in this game.
