Rockstar officially lays out microtransaction plans for Grand Theft Auto Online

Grand Theft Auto Online

We first brought you a rumor yesterday that Grand Theft Auto Online would be using microtransactions, and now Rockstar Games has confirmed those rumors by laying out the plans for this service.

When the service launches on October 1, gamers will be able to use real-world cash to pay for in-game items. Rockstar says that “you don’t have to spend real money to attain the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos, but can if you wish to get them a little quicker.”

Grand Theft Auto Online will also receive free updates as time goes on that will unlock new features. Two announced modes will be a two person racing game and a capture the flag game. There will also be packs with new items, vehicles, and weapons. These are all in addition to the modes that are with Grand Theft Auto Online from the start.

You can begin to play Grand Theft Auto Online on October 1. From what Rockstar is saying, expect a lot of content in the future after its launch.
