Marvel’s Avengers will not have a Local Co-Op mode

Marvel’s Avengers will not have a Local Co-Op mode
It will however have online co-op multiplayer instead

One of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020 is Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers. Since its reveal, the hype continues to grow day by day with Square Enix releasing bits of information like character gameplay videos, and the latest, the sixth Avenger, Ms. Marvel.

For an Avengers game, many would assume that it will have co-op features. While it does indeed feature an online co-op multiplayer mode, the game will not have any couch co-op mode as it will not have a local co-op play. Sadly, if you are by yourself and not a fan of playing online with others you do not know, your journey in beating the bad guys with Marvel’s Avengers will be just by yourself.

Marvel's Avengers Co-Op

The disappointing news was revealed at this year’s New York Comic-Con by Scot Amos, Head of the Crystal Dynamics studio. When discussing the multiplayer portion of the game, he revealed that it will not have a local co-op mode and players will have to rely playing online if they wish to beat the game with other people. Sadly, the team is focused more in delivering online multiplayer content rather than focusing on being a single-player game.

Marvel’s Avengers will be available sometime in 2020. There’s no exact date as to when the game will be available but Avengers’ fan can assemble soon, hopefully. So far, the game looks promising, with the studio announcing that it will have a multi-year story, free DLC characters and different online multiplayer modes.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Square Enix:

Marvel’s Avengers invites players to live their Super Hero dreams. Outstanding storytelling and an ever-expanding universe come together in the definitive Avengers gaming experience. Master extraordinary abilities, customize a growing roster of Heroes, assemble into teams of up to four players, and defend the Earth from escalating threats.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel’s Avengers features a cinematic story, complete with the high-octane action that Crystal Dynamics is known for. Featuring regular content updates, the game will take players on an epic journey delivered over multiple years. This is what’s next for the Avengers.

– Play An Original Avengers Story – Marvel’s Avengers is a unique take on these iconic Super Heroes, including Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor. This character-driven story celebrates authentic Marvel heroism and humanity in a cinematic campaign filled with single-player and co-op missions.

– Embrace Your Powers – Unlock powerful skills and new gear to build your ideal version of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. When combined with original, fan-favorite, and classic outfits, there are nearly limitless ways to customize these iconic Heroes.
