Borderlands 3 – Cash Farming Guide

Even if buying gear isn’t terribly common or the most fun thing to do, increasing your ammo capacity and backpack space is one of the most useful things you can do. In Borderlands 3, this requires cash and quite a bit of it, though obtaining the cash needed isn’t as hard as you might think.

How much is required?

Before going into the best ways to obtain cash in Borderlands 3, it’s important to note just how much cash is required. While I had a couple updates prior to keep track, it takes about 33 million in cash to max everything. This means you’re going to be spending a lot of time running around trying to get the last upgrades or obtaining the resources needed to defeat the next big bad. But, there are easier ways.

Cash Grenade Method

Some grenades have a skill called money, which causes enemies to drop some cash when damaged. This alone can make you a small fortune if you group them together with Amara’s skill or simply aim it at enemy groupings. Doing this can easily net $100,000+ a mission and further increase if you can get a loot expanding relic. I have a rare one that increases cash drops by 107 percent, meaning you can easily earn $200,000+ doing the exact same thing.

Grab and Sell Everything Method

While nowhere near as lucrative as the previous method, a lot of people will leave thousands laying around. Simply picking up a bunch of pointless guns with the intent to sell is a fantastic way to make some extra money. Plus, it gives pointless gear all kinds of value.

Duplicating via Save Files

Even if it isn’t the most honorable way, the easiest method, at least for console players, is to make a dummy account and trade cash between them. This sounds really tedious, but it goes shockingly fast if you can keep track of it.

All you need to do is obtain a lot of money on your main, so let’s say $1 million and make a copy of this save file. Sign onto an alternate (at least for PlayStation), load the game and give the new player all your money. Make a copy of that save, move your previously copied save back to your system and trade the million back to your main for $2 million. From here it will increase exponentially. Basically, that $2 million will become 3, followed by 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55 and then basically cap at 100 million. At that point you can make a final copy and simply trade millions back to your main in the unlikely event you’ll ever need cash again.
