Game of the Year 2018 – Red Dead Redemption 2

Game of the Year 2018 – Red Dead Redemption 2

There is one game that stands out in 2018. One that received some much hype and anticipation. A game that only one video game company could have pulled it off, without leaving fans disappointed. Of course that company is Rockstar Games, with the title being Red Dead Redemption 2. For years fans of the previous iteration have been calling for another western title and damn did we get a great one!

The game follows the main character Arthur Morgan, whom is part of the Van der Linde gang. Of course, Morgan is somewhat on the wrong side of the law and doesn’t exactly want to change his ways. With the Pinkerton’s detective agency and rival gangs all chasing him there is plenty of action squeezed in.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Unlimited Gold Bar

There is criticism pointed the way of Red Dead Redemption 2. The way online Gold Bars are handled microtransaction-wise to the amount of pressing buttons to gallop a horse, though these get washed away when your jaw hits the floor from the stunning game world. Turn a corner up a mountain and see for miles with beautiful vistas. Slowly plod your horse between buildings in a town and over hear the locals talking. Hogtie someone and drag them behind you from your moving horse. All these elements build together to make an unforgettable world for all of the right reasons.

Already winning our award for Best Narrative Game of 2018 the storyline was one of many knockout elements that built this game up into the masterpiece that it is. Coming with a slow start, the narrative is built up over time making you care for characters, not just your own survival. This is incredibly important as Rockstar Games hasn’t stooped to providing only 6 hours of content. Oh no, try adding a zero on the end of that and you have more of an understanding of the sense of scale Rockstar has pulled off. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the wild west game everyone was waiting for and it fully delivered.
