2018 was not really a big year when it comes to AAA Xbox One exclusives. The three games that come to mind include Forza Horizon 4, Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2.
Sea of Thieves was a boring game when it first launched in March 2018. There was a lack of direction because you could only do boring quests by fighting the same skeletons over and over again. Not to mention the game was only fun if you had online friends. Sure the game got better in the months that followed, but I still hate it.
State of Decay 2 was alright, but it was nothing special too. With that in mind, it was easy for me to select Forza Horizon 4 as the best Xbox One exclusive of 2018. There are lots of things to like about the game because Playground Games managed to add several new features to make this sequel feel fresh and exciting.
The biggest addition is the rotation of seasons in the game. You can play the game in Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring with each season bringing in new challenges and different road events. The game also had cool storyline missions with my favorite was being a stunt man driver for a Hollywood movie!
However, the coolest feature of Forza Horizon 4 is without a doubt the special Halo event. In this event, you were playing as Master Chief as he’s driving a warthog. Even Cortana was back with Master Chief to give him orders like the good old days.
Another reason I loved this game so much is the pretty visuals. I bought a new 4K TV this year and Forza Horizon 4 is by far the best looking game I have played all year long. Everything just looks so clean and crisp when playing the game with 4K graphics and HDR colors.
If you own an Xbox One or Xbox One X console, make sure to pick this game up ASAP. It’s the best Xbox One exclusive in 2018.
