Microsoft Feels This Fall/Holiday Is The Most Crowded AAA Gaming Season Ever

The Fall and Holiday season of each year is usually crowded with many AAA publishers releasing their games all at the same time. However, it seems as if the 2018 season is more crowded than usual and Microsoft agrees that this year might be the most star studded of all time.

Gameindustry.biz had a chance to interview Aaron Greenberg who is Microsoft’s Head of Xbox marketing. According to Greenberg, he says this Fall and Holiday season has tons of AAA games being released in such a short period of time. You can read his comments on the matter posted down below.

We’re going to get it out (Forza Horizon 4) early (October 2nd) and before the blast radius. Then we didn’t need Crackdown or any of our titles in this holiday window. We’re planning to launch that in February, and then after that we will launch Ori and the Will of the Wisps. We like to have a steady cadence of content throughout the year. But there is more than enough content this holiday. That’s why we’re working with so many third-party partners to showcase their games and help drive our platform during that window. I can’t think of a holiday that had more AAA games in such a tight time period.

Forza Horizon 4 is the only AAA Xbox One exclusive releasing his Fall and Holiday season because Microsoft wants to spread its releases throughout the entire year. This was seen with Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 already coming out earlier this year.

Sony on the other hand also used this strategy already releasing its trio of God of War, Detroit: Become Human and more recently Spider-Man out this week.

Greenberg is not wrong in saying that this year has the most crowded season for AAA games. Some of the games to look forward to include Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Battlefield V, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Just Cause 4, Red Dead Redemption 2 and more!
