Some NFL Players Are Unhappy Over Their Madden 19 Character Models

As video games progress over the years, normally people will praise how “realistic” everything looks. However even though we’re in 2018, there are still some video games (Madden 19) that don’t look as good as real life.

Most of the time, EA Sports does a good job with the likenesses of NFL players in its annual Madden video game series. Madden 19 looks great, but there are still a few examples of players that don’t look like the real thing. In other words, their character models look nothing like their real life counterparts.

The only reason we’re bringing this topic up is because Houston Texans player Christian Covington tweeted out the photo you see above of his Madden 19 character model. He says: “Guess I have to accept the fact that I’m ugly now…. Say it ain’t so Madden…. smh

San Francisco 49ers player Trent Taylor also tweeted out he’s feelings towards his poor character model in the game. He says: “What’d I do to deserve this??? @EAMaddenNFL“.

Another example was spotted by a Twitter user. He said Washington Redskins player Daron Payne has mutton chops on this character model, but the real life players does not even have that type of facial hair!

There’s probably even more bad examples out there, but these are the only ones we found from the Twitter conversation that Christian Covington started. It’s disappointing because Madden 19 has the new Frostbite engine which is supposed to make the game look better each and every year. You cannot praise the graphics though if the character models are not fully accurate.

Nobody from EA Sports has jumped in to reply to the upset NFL players. It will be interesting how EA Sports will respond if they see the inaccuracies. Hopefully more character models will look better when Madden 20 comes out next year.
