May 2018 is behind us and it’s a win for both Microsoft and Sony. This is because State of Decay 2 was the best selling video game of the month while the PS4 console was the best selling console.
NPD posted its report recently as shown on ResetEra. Overall spending in the video game industry was up $685 million which is more than the $607 million that gamers spent in the same month last year.
State of Decay 2 was the best selling game of the month almost doubling the sales of the first game in its launch month. It was also a great month for Quantic Dream as the enjoyable Detroit: Become Human launched with higher numbers compared to Heavy Rain in 2010.

As for hardware sales, the PS4 remains to be the top selling console of 2018. This is all thanks to a host of exclusive games pushing the console as God of War is still selling well. Sales for the Nintendo Switch console is also trending upwards as overall hardware spending was up by 26% compared to 2017.
