We have not seen a Syphon Filter video game in many years, but the franchise could be making a comeback. Sony has just filed a trademark for the name in Europe recently.
Sony Interactive Entertainment trademarked Syphon Filter in Europe on November 8th, 2017. This was spotted by a user on the ResetEra forum pages.
There are many theories out there on what this could mean. It could be a new game, a remake or something else. The boring scenario is if it’s just a port that will be available on PS4.
The franchise was only released for the PSOne, PSP and PS2 consoles. The series missed the entire PS3 generation and has remained dormant for ten years now. Hopefully there’s more to this trademark as the series deserves to be resurrected.
