Thanks to the hype of Pokemon Go, Hollywood is quickly in production on the Detective Pikachu movie. The movie now has a female lead in mind.
As reported by Variety, sources tell them that Kathryn Newton is in negotiations to play the female lead. She joins Justice Smith who is set to be the male lead of the film.
Newton is a young actress, but she has already been in a few things. She was most famously cast in Paranormal Activity 4 and has also been in several episodes of the CW show Supernatural too.
Universal Pictures has yet to cast the voice actor for Pikachu. Some rumored famous names to voice the cute Pokemon include the likes of The Rock, Ryan Reynolds and even Hugh Jackman. If it’s the latter, he better keep his Australian accent.
