It goes without saying that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most anticipated, if not the most anticipated, game this year. Naturally, many fans want the special editions, but Nintendo decided to keep their numbers on the scarcer side. While this might be disappointing for some, here is what you can expect from the special edition if you’re lucky enough to get one.
For starters, the special edition box is quite large, rivaling and in some ways surpassing, the Nintendo Switch box. As for the actual box, it’s good quality and includes the games box art. In addition to that, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is written in gold foil, making it stand out on the front. The sides also have lush and vibrant images making the box really stand out.
As you can see, most of the size is due to presentation. depending on your take this can be good or bad, but it makes for an exciting unboxing, if nothing else.
The top part has everything besides the case. Besides simply holding it all, there is also writing and designs, making it a little more interesting than a tray.
As you can see, the map comes rolled, making it hard to lay flat. That being said, the paper used is quite nice and something that would look good framed, if you wanted to head that direction.
There isn’t much to the coin. One side has the Sheikah eye symbol, with the other showing the Z from the title. Beyond that, the coin has decent weight, but isn’t anything special.
Unlike the other parts of this edition, the sound selection uses paper with a plastic holder in there for the CD case. Better than what they did with the Twilight Princess HD sound selection, but not as nice as the Ocarina of Time 3D or Majora’s Mask OSTs.
Last up we have the game. The case itself has some nice artwork, especially on the back, with the game in there alone.
Last up is the case, which is pretty nice. It’s not a hard case if that is a deal breaker, but beyond that it holds the Switch, 12 games and accessories.
Needless to say, this is a fairly large case and not something you’ll be able to fit in your pocket.
As you can see, the system fits snug in the bottom slot.
The only concern with the case is potential problems finding games. This is how The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks in the case, which is hard to make out. Not impossible, but certainly not easy either. The netting for accessories also isn’t the most high quality thing out there.
And there you have it. For the most part, if you plan on taking your Switch out of the house and want Zelda, it’s certainly worth the effort to find one.
Finally, if you can’t get enough The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this is the poster GameStop was handing out at the midnight release. Interestingly enough, the poster is also decent quality and looks much better in person.
