The success of Pokémon Go has stirred the nation into a Pokémon frenzy, and the Nintendo 3DS along with the Pokémon 3DS games are reaping the rewards. According to Nintendo of America, the Nintendo 3DS was the best-selling platform during the month of July. Topping the software sales charts was 3DS exclusive Monster Hunter Generations, with Kirby: Planet Robobot, Minecraft: Wii U Edition, and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire all charting among July’s best-sellers list.

Pokémon Go took the world by storm during July, and its success has led to a renewed interest in the Pokémon games for 3DS. During the month of July, sales of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for Nintendo 3DS saw an increase of nearly 200% when compared to July of 2015. The games originally launched in October of 2013, and managed to chart at #16 and #22 on July’s best-sellers list.

Continuing this trend is Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, which saw sales increase more than 80% when compared to July 2015. These titles launched in November 2104, and managed to chart at #8 and #10 on July 2016’s best-seller list.

Nintendo 3DS saw an increase of nearly 80% when compared to last July, with Pokémon and Capcom’s Monster Hunter Generations fueling strong sales in July 2016. As a result of this surge in sales, the Nintendo 3DS was the best-selling hardware of July. The Nintendo 2DS has now sold more than 2 million units in North America.
