NPD July 2016 Sales: 3DS Beats Both Xbox One And PS4

The full July 2016 NPD sales have been revealed and surprisingly the Nintendo 3DS console was the best selling hardware in North America that month.

VentureBeat reported on all of the details. The Xbox One beat the PS4 for the first time since October 2015 when Halo 5 came out. Not to mention price drops also made Microsoft’s console more attractive with buyers.

If you factor in all hardware, the 3DS was the overall winner. This might have been thanks to the release of Pokemon Go. Pokemon became more popular so buyers may have decided to play more games that they have missed in the franchise.

In terms of software, July 2016 for NPD sales was very lackluster. The top selling game ended up being Grand Theft Auto V. Other older games made the top 10.
