With Dark Souls 3 now available worldwide, fans will be pleased to know that there are three possible endings in the game.
If you want to get all three endings, we got you covered as we will lay out the details on how to get them. Just be warned though! Our guide might contain spoilers:
To Link the First Flame
The first ending that is the easiest to obtain is called “To Link the First Flame”.
To get this ending, simply play through the game until you reach the final boss, which is no other than The Soul of Cinder. After defeating him, search for the bonfire sitting near the edge of the area. Upon doing so, it will trigger a cutscene.
Usurping the Fire
To get “Usurping the Fire” ending, you must first have access to the Untended Graves, which is an optional area. In the Graves, you must first defeat the Champion Gundyr, and look for the dark Firelink Shrine. Search for the Eyes of a Firekeeper key item. Head back to the Firekeeper in the Firelink Shrine and give her the Eyes of a Firekeeper key. You’ll then notice that the background music will change.
Now, after defeating the final boss, which is the Soul of Cinder, do not interact the bonfire. Instead, look to the left of the bonfire and you’ll see a summon sign for the Firekeeper. Summon her, and you’ll trigger the ending cutscene, but first you must kill her.
Lord of Hollows Ending
The toughest ending to get in Dark Souls 3 is called Lord of Hollows.
To start off your journey in getting the quests, please remind yourself that you’ll have to do several NPC questlines:
The moment you first reach the Undead Settlement, find Yoel o Londor kneeling on the edge of the broke bridge. Talk to him and allow him to join you at the Firelink Shrine. Once he warps to go inside the Shrine, go back and talk to him so that he can draw out your true power. He will then essentially gives you one free level. Fortunately, you can gain a free level for every two times you die, and to unlock the final ending, you must gain five levels from him. You must do this right away.
After getting the free level five times, Yoel will be dead the next time you return to his location. Yuria of Londor will then appear next to his body. Talk to her and then continue on to the Road of Sacrifices where you’ll meet Anri and Horace for the first time. Talk to them again and continue with the story until you reach the Catacombs of Carthus.
As you reached the Catacombs, take the stairs down right before heading down the main stairs where you get attacked by the large skeleton ball. You’ll find Anri there. She’ll be looking for Horace, though tell her that you haven’t seen him. Continue your way to High Lord Wolnir, and instead of taking the rope bridge across, head up to the path on the right side to find Anri again. Don’t tell her again where Horace is. Cut down the rope and head down to Smouldering Lake. From there, hug the right wall until you come to a cave. You’ll find Horace there. Kill him. Head back to the Firelink Shrine and talk to Yuria.
The next time you go to Irithyll, you’ll find Anri again next to the church bonfire. Talk to her and leave. Do not attack the statues at the side of the room. Once you defeated Pontiff Sulyvhan, go back to the Firelink Shrine and talk to Yuria. She’ll then tell you that preparations for the marriage are ready. Head back to Irithyll and continue onward after the pontif bonfire. Before pulling the level that takes you to Anor Londo, turn around and look for an illusionary wall that takes you to Darkmon Tomb. Talk to the pilgrim and get the ceremonial sword. Head into the tomb and interact with Anri to start the marriage.
Once everything is done, just play the game normally, though do not reverse your hollowing or this will make Yuria angry. Once you defeat the Soul of Cinder, approach the bonfire and you’ll look the Usurpation ending.
