Since The Taken King’s launch, there have been two weapons players have wanted. One of them was the Sleeper Simulant and the other is No Time to Explain. While people exhausted their resources to find the Sleeper, the same effort wasn’t applied to No Time to Explain after the cultist ghost didn’t lead anywhere. However, it seems that the cultist ghost was just the first part and possible trigger for the quest, which some people were given today.
Please note, some users have reported getting the ghost and did not receive the quest. It’s possible other things are required or something else is going on, but I can confirm you can get the quest with zero Future War Cult rep and I had gotten the ghost last time it appeared.
Anyway, this is what you need to do to get the gun.
Pledge Allegiance to Future War Cult and Donate materials
The first part of the mission requires you join Future War Cult and donate some materials to their cause. It takes about 1,000 experience worth of materials to do this part and can easily be done with heavy ammo synth or motes of light.
Defeat a Powerful Minotaur, get the Simulation Core and then destroy it
For this part you need to defeat a yellow bar Taken minotaur. These can be found a number of ways, though the only guaranteed one I know of is the boss you fight prior to getting the cultist ghost. Once you defeat the minotaur you’ll get a quest item, which you need into your inventory and destroy.
Take Atheon’s Eye and Destroy it
If you’ve been dying for a reason to do Vault of Glass, then you’re in luck, since the next part requires you defeat Atheon and destroy his eye. While you only need Atheon for the quest, it might be easier/simpler to just do the raid fresh. As for killing Atheon, I strongly suggest using the Sleeper Simulant, since a couple of those can bring him down in seconds. Once you defeat him you’ll receive the eye and can destroy it the same way as the simulant core.
Search Twilight Gap for a chest
Unlike the previous sections you need to do this mission alone and you’ll be tasked with finding a chest somewhere on Twilight Gap. Unfortunately, it seems that the spawn is random or at least some people will have them in a different location, so you need to follow the puddles of light to find the chest. For those Hunters out there, remember that the Nightstalker classes Keen Scout skill will show the chest on the mini map.
Defeat the Groundskeeper in the Black Garden
For the final part of this quest you need to kill Vex to summon the groundskeeper and then defeat it. What makes this mission annoying is there are a lot of enemies and the anger gauge is constantly dropping. So it isn’t enough to just clear the adds, you need to do it quickly and then dispatch the boss immediately.
Once you’ve completed this you’ll get the No Time to Explain at 290 from Future War Cult.
For those interested in what the gun is like, well, it’s basically the Apple of Discord or Nirwen’s Mercy with a unique perk and more balanced range/stability. The unique perk basically makes it a primary Black Spindle/Hammer, which is nice, but also not terribly practical in a lot of situations. Overall it’s a pretty cool gun, though the removal of arc damage is a huge loss.
