If there is one thing that defined 2014 in gaming, it would be the countless disappointments. First we had Watch Dogs failing to meet expectations, Assassin’s Creed Unity had way too many glitches, LittleBigPlanet 3 simply wasn’t as good as the previous titles, and many next-gen games became last-gen games and vice versa. But none of these things can quite match the disappointment that is Destiny.
What makes Destiny special is that while the gameplay is enjoyable, practically every other aspect of the game works against it. The in-game story is extremely vague/forgettable (even though the grimoire cards show far more is going on than you see in game), not a whole lot of content, several events have been lackluster/flopped, poor design choices across the board, questionable “fixes” from Bungie, high price/low value DLC and much more prevent an otherwise great game from being anything more than mediocre.
