Dark Souls II For PC Is Experiencing Crashing Issues At Launch

Dark Souls II For PC Is Experiencing Crashing Issues At Launch

Dark Souls 2 Art

While the much anticipated Dark Souls II released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 last month, the hellishly hard game finally hit PC yesterday. However, the game did not arrive without any hitches as many have been experiencing crashing issues with the game.

Bandai Namco said they have escalated the issue on the game’s official forums, but said that two workarounds that were posted by a few on the forums actually worked as well. Thanks to Crave Online, we have details on how to get your game up without crashing. The first option is rather simple while the second is a little more involved.

First Method

-On AMD video cards, go to Control Center. under Properties (Digital flat-panel) and enabling GPU scaling. Apply and start game.

Second Method

-Select Dark Souls 2 in Steam.
-Unplug your HDMI/DVI Cable.
-Hit Enter (this will start the game).
-Plug it back in. Using this workaround the game is locked to windowed mode 1280×720.
-After setting your resolution and fullscreen mode in the options menu, restart the game using the same technique. For some people this will allow the game to be played at their desired resolution and in fullscreen mode. Some people have reported not having sound using this workaround.

Stay tuned for further details on when Bandai Namco has found a permanent solution for the problem.
