While we had some great news for Ryse: Son of Rome owners earlier this week with the announcement of new DLC for the game coming at the end of the month, we sadly have some disappointing news to report. Last year, it was announced that a cooperative gladiator challenge editor that would utilize SmartGlass was going to be coming to the game in 2014, but sadly this is no longer the case.
Polygon contacted a Microsoft to ask about this feature, in which they said:
After careful consideration, we have decided to cease development on Ryse: Son of Rome’s challenge editor and focus on improving and expanding fans’ experience with the game through both free content updates and purchased add-on packs. We look forward to sharing more details soon.
Polygon also reports that sources tell them that this feature was decided against due to lackluster reception for the Xbox One launch title.
