Ubisoft is open to making an Assassin’s Creed game set in Feudal Japan.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s creative director Jean Guesdon said in an interview with VG247 the following:

Feudal Japan remains – like numerous other time periods and locations – a possible future setting for the franchise because thanks to the Animus. The entire human history is our playground.

The Assassin’s Creed games are unique in the fact that the Animus does only the characters to visit any time period. Feudal Japan seems like a cool setting. It’s likely Assassin’s Creed V will be out later this year, so Ubisoft will announce its setting very shortly hopefully.
