Grand Theft Auto Online has had a number of issues since its launch last week. The latest problem involves the loss of data including characters, ranks, items, apartments, and cash. Rockstar Games has now weighed in on these issues and what you can try to do to avoid it before they can fix the problem.
It appears that the biggest culprit in this is Rockstar’s Cloud services, and as a result they are saying it might be best to avoid playing the game when their cloud services are down. When they are down, you have the option to play online with disc-based content. While this may help to prevent problems, there are still many cases of lost content that Rockstar is working to try and recover in Grand Theft Auto Online.
We are continuing to investigate the causes of the lost progress and what can be done to minimize the impact until a permanent fix is in place.
