WWE ’13 Sells Nearly 500,000 Copies In The First Week

According to sales data from VGChartz, WWE ’13 managed to sell nearly 500,000 copies in its first week.

The PS3 version of the game sold the best. It apparently sold 248,852 copies compared to the Xbox 360 version which only sold 240,556 copies. Both versions sold well ahead of the Wii version with a measly 24,276 sold.

WWE ’13 sold much more than Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 did in its first week but is surprisingly lower than that of WWE ’12. WWE ’12 sold well more units on the Wii and Xbox 360 but PS3 sales for WWE ’13 were better. The figures are surprising because pre-order sales exceeded those of WWE ’12.

It could be that WWE ’13 suffered because it was released on the same day as Assassin’s Creed III. Not to mention that Halo 4 was out just a week later as well. WWE ’12 was released in late October too, but did not clash with the release dates of major titles from 2011.

Bear in mind, sales from VGChartz are only estimates. We will have to wait for official sales data from THQ whenever they decide to make an official announcement on it.
