Modern Warfare 2 Map Removed Due To Complaints From Muslim Gamers

Some people that are still playing Modern Warfare 2 noticed that the “Favela” multiplayer map was missing. This is due to complaints received from Muslim gamers.

Muslim gamers found offensive imagery in one of the rooms in the map. The map will return once the necessary edits have been made.

In a room on the map, two paintings can be found with quotes that attribute to the Prophet Muhammad that read “Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty”.

The main problem about the paintings is that they appear inside a bathroom and over a toilet. It is highly offensive to see holy teachings written on or in a bathroom in the Islamic faith.

Here’s Activision’s response talking to Kotaku on the matter:

“We apologize to anyone who found this image offensive. Please be assured we were unaware of this issue and that there was no intent to offend. We are working as quickly as possible to remove this image and any other similar ones we may find from our various game libraries.

We are urgently working to release a Title Update to remove the texture from Modern Warfare 3. We are also working to remove the texture from Modern Warfare 2 through a separate Title Update. Until the TU is ready, we have removed the Favella multiplayer map from online rotation.

Activision and our development studios are respectful of diverse cultures and religious beliefs, and sensitive to concerns raised by its loyal game players. We thank our fans for bringing this to our attention.”

  1. WTF seriously? How can someone live their life annoyed at every tiny little thing? It’s ok to shoot fuckers in the face but not ok to see some text in a bathroom?

I’m starting to think these people are complaining just to complain and get their jollies off. Get over yourselves!

  2. typical muslims….its ok for them to kill lots of innocent people because of their religion…and get butthurt by a trivial content in a GAME…oh my…
