Electronic Arts has announced that FIFA 13 has become the biggest game launch of 2012 thus far. The popular sporting game sold an impressive 4.5 million units worldwide in just five days.
The game became number 1 in at least 40 countries and sold 1.23 million units in 48 hours in the UK alone. It is the first non-Call of Duty game to sell over 1 million copies in the UK on its launch.
30th September became a milestone for EA because 800,000 people logged on to play the game. It was the busiest online gaming day for a single EA title in history.
“FIFA Soccer 13 is a critical and commercial success unprecedented in sports entertainment,” said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President of EA SPORTS. “Every minute of every day millions of fans around the world are experiencing what the critics have already said — FIFA Soccer 13 is the biggest and best sports game we have ever created.”
