Rockstar Hiring For New Open World Game

Rockstar Hiring For New Open World Game

Rockstar San Diego is looking to add people to their team for a new open world game. Three new job listings have appeared on Gamasutra for a Tools Programmer, a Gameplay Programmer and a Network Programmer. Those last two listings specifically state that they want employees that could provide the level of skill necessary to create a Rockstar open world game.

There has already been some speculation as to what this new title could be. Midnight Racer and, the even older, Smuggler’s Run have been some ideas. However, assuming Rockstar San Diego isn’t working on a new IP, it seems more likely that they would be getting ready to create a sequel for a more recent and best-selling title. Of course, I’m talking about Red Dead Redemption.

It may not officially be called Red Dead Redemption since the first game in the series was titled Red Dead Revolver, but a continuation of the Red Dead franchise seems likely given its popularity. At this point, it’s all just speculation and we will have to wait for some concrete details straight from Rockstar’s mouth which, given the fact that they’re still hiring for the project, could be well into the distant future.

There’s nothing wrong with taking a few educated guesses until then. Do you have an idea of where Rockstar San Deigo is taking their next open world game? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
