Resistance is Futile; Insomniac Kills Franchise

Long time fans of the Resistance franchise will be saddened to learn that Insomniac will no longer develop any more games in the franchise. Ted Price, CEO of Insomniac games, released this news during an interview at Southern Methodist University’s Game::Business::Law Summit.

The reason for this decision comes from the recent sales numbers of the third entry to this well established franchise. The first game in the series, Resistance: Fall of Man, was a launch title back when the PS3 first debuted (a time when Resistance was one of the only games worth playing). However, there is still hope for fans of the franchise as the IP is not actually owned by Insomniac. In fact, Sony themselves own the IP, and Resistance: Burning Skies is in production for the Playstation Vita.
