Mojang: “Mobile Was Experimental; 360 Will Be Substantial”

The mobile versions of Minecraft were an oddity. Essentially a version of the Alpha in its own way, but portable. The survival elements were entirely removed, being a sweet taste of the Minecraft world, rather than a juicy chunk of the game’s substance and wanderlust.

This is also something that Mojang admits to, or to be specific, Daniel Kaplan.

“If I buy Street Fighter on the iPhone, I don’t think that it will have the same kind of stuff that Street Fighter has on the Xbox 360, because it wouldn’t be possible… It’ll be really weird to try to chase the PC version, because we will never be able to do that.”

But in lieu of the assumption that alternate Minecraft versions may be lesser products, Kaplan discussed the factor quality of the upcoming Xbox 360 version of Minecraft.

“The Xbox has different release cycles, so it’s much harder to release something as buggy as Minecraft was, or is… But we will eventually update it, the Xbox version, and put in new features, just like with Minecraft PC version.”

Color me excited! Here’s to hoping that we don’t lose any of the experience in the transfer!
