The Xbox 360 has been on sale since late 2005 and six years on, the console has now passed the 57 million sales mark.
Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb confirmed this on his official twitter account of @majornelson.
According to the latest sales figures, the Xbox 360 is still slightly ahead of the PS3 which has managed to sell 55.5 million units.
This is a big achievement for Microsoft when compared to the lifetime sales of the original Xbox console. The original Xbox only sold over 24 million units worldwide before it was discontinued in 2006.
