Saints Row The Third: Weapons Upgrade Guide [Updated]

With Saints Row: The Third releasing in just a few hours (east coast players should be enjoying it already), it’s about time someone prepared you for the insanity awaiting you in Steelport.

This guide will show you the upgrade levels and costs of each weapon. The first three levels of weapon enhancements are usually pretty standard, but you’ll want to keep an eye out on those level 4 modifications (NOTE: not all weapons have four upgrades). That’s where Saints Row: The Third shows its true colors.

Melee

Baseball Bat
Level 1 ($250) – A long, wooden stick. Good for beating things. Enough said.
Level 2 ($2,500) – Increases damage.

Stun Gun
Level 1 ($10,000) – For quick incapacitation of your target.

The Penetrator
Level 1 ($500) – The absurdity of a sex toy with the lethality of a baseball bat.

Nocturne
Level 1 ($50,000) – The Decker gang’s oversized sword.

Woodsman
Level 1 ($100,000) – Who said chainsaws were only used for cutting down trees?

Apoca-Fist
Level 1 (Story Decision) – The power of the apocalypse balled up in a fist.

Pistols

45 Sheperd
Level 1 ($100) – The handgun of choice for any Saint.
Level 2 ($100) – Increase rate of fire.
Level 3 ($10,000) – Increase the size of your clips.
Level 4 ($20,000) – Exploding bullets shock your enemies.

KA-1 Kobra
Level 1 ($100) – What you’re usually dodging when the cops show up.
Level 2 ($100) – Increase the size of your clips.
Level 3 ($10,000) – Suppressor increases damage and reduces recoil.
Level 4 ($20,000) – Laser sight improves hip-firing accuracy. Armor-piercing bullets pass through armor.

SMGs

TEK-Z 10
Level 1 ($5,000) – Street version of the SMG. Full upgrade allows for incendiary bullets.
Level 2 ($7,500) – Increase clip size and damage. Red dot sight improves fine-aim accuracy.
Level 3 ($10,000) – Suppressor increases damage and reduces recoil.
Level 4 ($20,000) – Incendiary bullets turn up the heat. Laser sight improves hip-firing accuracy.

D4TH Blossom
Level 1 ($5,000) – Higher grade SMG that fires bullets in extremely rapid succession.
Level 2 ($7,500) – Increase the size of your clips.
Level 3 ($15,00) – Increase rate of fire and lessen recoil.
Level 4 ($30,000) – Armor-piercing bullets do more damage and pass through armor.

Cyber SMG
Level 1 ($100,000) – Make the virtual SMG from Decker User-Net a reality.

Shotguns

Grave Digger
Level 1 ($10,000) – Old-school shotgun with a new Saints style.
Level 2 ($10,000) – Increase the size of your clips. Add a second barrel for more damage.
Level 3 ($20,000) – Increase the size of your clips. Add a third barrel for even more damage.
Level 4 ($40,000) – Incendiary bullets turn up the heat. Increase the size of your clips.

AS3 Ultimax
Level 1 ($10,000) – The standard law enforcement shotgun. Duck if you see one coming…
Level 2 ($10,000) – Increase rate of fire, clip size and damage. Red dot sight improves fine-aim accuracy.
Level 3 ($20,000) – Increase rate of fire, clip size and damage. Front iron sight improves fine-aim accuracy.
Level 4 ($40,000) – Increase rate of fire and clip size. Laser sight improves hip-firing accuracy.

S3X Hammer
Level 1 ($20,000) – This is STAG’s (Special Tactical Anti-Gang) version of a shotgun.
Level 2 ($20,000) – Increases rate of fire, damage and clip size, while adding a red dot sight for accuracy.
Level 3 ($40,000) – Increases rate of fire and damage.
Level 4 ($80,000) – Increases rate of fire and damage once again.

Assault Rifles

K-8 Krukov
Level 1 ($10,000) – The working-man’s assault rifle.
Level 2 ($10,000) – Increase damage. Red dot sight improves fine-aim accuracy.
Level 3 ($20,000) – Increase rate of fire and the size of your clips.
Level 4 ($40,000) – Attached grenade launcher shoots grenades farther and faster. Box magazine hold more ammo.

AR-55
Level 1 ($10,000) – Higher grade rifle with upgradable scope.
Level 2 ($10,000) – Increase burst size.
Level 3 ($20,000) – Increase the size of your clips.
Level 4 ($40,000) – Sniper scope increases zoom distance. Extended barrel increases damage and reduces recoil.

Viper Laser Rifle
Level 1 ($20,000) – STAG’s rifle utilizes laser technology to eliminate the need for reloading clips. Watch out for overheating.
Level 2 ($20,000) – Increases your rate of fire and adds a tech sight for better accuracy.
Level 3 ($40,000) – Increases your rate of fire, and extends the barrel to balance recoil.
Level 4 ($80,000) – Increases your rate of fire again, and extends the barrel to counter the recoil.

Explosives

Annhilator
Level 1 ($15,000) – For huge explosions and firepower, you can’t go wrong with a rocket launcher.
Level 2 ($15,000) – Increase damage.
Level 3 ($30,000) – Increase damage.
Level 4 ($60,000) – Laser-guided rockets follow your reticle. Targeting system allows you to lock onto enemies.

Mollusk Launcher
Level 1 (DLC) – Singing, exploding, cuddly, mind-controlling octopi. Yeah. Mind-control. We’re serious.

Satchel Charge
Level 1 (Free) – Toss ’em and blow ’em up.
Level 2($10,000) – Allows you to carry more charges.
Level 3 ($20,000) – Allows you to carry more charges.
Level 4 ($40,000) – Allows you to carry even more charges.

Special

McManus 2015
Level 1 ($25,000) – For that long-range shot where accuracy is key.
Level 2 ($50,000) – Increase ammo capacity.
Level 3 ($100,000) – Increase ammo capacity. Bipod reduces recoil.
Level 4 ($200,000) – Increase ammo capacity. Extended barrel increase damage and reduces recoil.

Reaper Drone
Level 1 (Free) – Watch from the air as you direct a missile to its exact target.
Level 2 ($30,00) – Carry more missiles.
Level 3 ($60,000) – Carry more missiles.
Level 4 ($120,000) – Carry more missiles.

RC Possessor
Level 1 (Free) – Why play with a tiny remote-controller car when you can remotely control a full size vehicle!
Level 2 ($15,000) – Increase ammo capacity.
Level 3 ($30,000) – Detonate the vehicle you’re controlling.
Level 4 ($60,000) – Control military vehicles.

SA-3 Airstrike
Level 1 (Free) – Paint a target then sit back and enjoy the show.
Level 2 ($50,000) – Laser paints target faster, holds more ammo.
Level 3 ($100,000) – Targets faster and holds more ammo.
Level 4 ($200,000) – Targets faster and holds maximum ammo.

Cyber Buster
Level 1 (Free) – Arm cannon from Decker User-Net.

Thrown

Grenade
Level 1 ($50) – It’s a grenade; it hurts when it explodes.
Level 2 (5,000) – Affect a larger area.
Level 3 ($10,000) – Throw farther.
Level 4 ($20,000) – Increase damage.

Molotov
Level 1 ($50) – Handy way to light things on fire.
Level 2 ($5,000) – Affect a larger area.
Level 3 ($10,000) – Throw farther.
Level 4 ($20,000) – Increase damage.

Flashbangs
Level 1 ($25) – Stun enemies with this grenade.
Level 2 ($5,000) – Affect a larger area.
Level 3 ($10,000) – Throw farther.

Level 1 ($100) – Electrical damage and the ability to stun those around you.
