Microsoft Kinect could censor content according to player size

This week Microsoft revealed one of their patents that could allow their hands free controller, the Kinect, to determine a players age. Once said data is gathered, your Xbox 360 could then block content such as TV shows, video games, and movies with inappropriate ratings.

According to the patent shown above, the Kinect will measure the proportion of player body parts such as arm lengths, head and body height, or shoulder width, to then determine the player’s age. Honestly this patent does sound very interesting, but how many of you have actually stopped using the parental controls because of all the shows/movies on netflix that don’t have rating? Parental controls are nice when they work, this patent just seems like another feature that Microsoft has come up with that will never provide any real benefit.
