Id Software’s John Carmack On RAGE’s Textures, And Why He’s Cool

Id Software’s John Carmack On RAGE’s Textures, And Why He’s Cool

While you, the average gamer/ normal person/ hardcore gamer doesn’t need me telling you that John Carmack knows what he’s doing, here’s a quick introduction. One of the original co-creators of Doom, a man with the foresight to not support the infamously and astonishingly bad Daikatana, the man who can get a RAGE tech demo running on the iPhone 3GS, he’s got quite a pedigree behind him.

And now he’s here again to tell us that no matter what platform you get the upcoming RAGE game on, the textures will be entirely identical. As he stated on his Twitter…

“the texture[sic] are exactly the same on all platforms.”

So, except for some unfortunate news about the file download on the PS3, RAGE should be fairly equivocal between every console and system, and players can look forward to it coming out October 4th.

Wil Taylor

Wil Taylor

My name is Wil Taylor, an ex-rabid Nintendo fanboy until only a few years ago, a crazy man in a crazy hat showed me that games could be much more than Mario. I buckled up tight and gripped my respective controllers and decided that I was going to come up along-side the new wave of gaming and focus on the interactive mediums. Because seriously, how often does humanity discover an entirely new medium for art? Also, blowing up things is neat too. My favorite games are Bastion, Portal, BlazBlue, Street Fighter, Super Meat Boy and Saints Row.
