Documentary confuses real life with videogames

The British TV channel ‘ITV’ has aired a documentary on the IRA, where a clip is shown on how a helicopter is being shot down. However, the footage shown was from the PC game ArmA 2.

The channel claims that the footage got mixed up with real footage during the editing of the documentary. “The events featured in Exposure: Gaddafi and the IRA were genuine, but it would appear that during the editing process the correct clip of the 1988 incident was not selected and other footage was mistakenly included in the film by producers.”

They added “This was an unfortunate case of human error for which we apologise.” The program called ‘exposure’ sought to document the ties between the IRA and Gaddafi. ITV has removed the program from ITVplayer and it will be edited for future broadcasts
