With Jens releasing the Minecraft Beta 1.8 Pre-release to so called expert users many have been left wondering how they can also try out the new content. Here’s a quick guide of how to install the 1.8 pre-release on Windows.
Three things to note are you do not need to delete your current worlds this is an option, this version is extremely buggy and glitched so will occasionally crash and finally will only work on a legitimate Minecraft copy not a pirated version.
1)     Download the Client Minecraft.jar file. If you don’t already have it downloaded here’s the link minecraft.jar (if you would also like the server jar it’s located at minecraft_server.jar)
2)     Open the Windows start menu. Window 7 and Vista owners type into the search bar ‘%appdata%’. XP owners do this through ‘Run’.
3)     Locate and open the ‘.minecraft’ folder
4)     Go into the ‘bin’ folder where the Minecraft.jar file is located
5)Â Â Â Â Â Replace the existing Minecraft.jar file with the newly downloaded version.
6)Â Â Â Â Â Close the folder down and run Minecraft. You will not see a difference at in the Minecraft Launcher program until the new Mojang logo appears.

when you put coal in a furnace it saves and logs off
new version out which should fix it if not use charcoal
it should do but back up 1.7 jar file in case :)

how it says minecraft.jar could not load main
what has done loading the download link or the mc launcher?
if the minecraft.jar file says minecraft(#).jar rename it without the (#) and it should load fine otherwise try deleteing the minecraft.jar file then re-downloading it
When I launch minecraft with the new jar file it just says done loading and sits there at the load page help please
Did all you said a gazillion times. Acts like it’s going to launch then just sits there with a black screen. Really? What’s up with that?
i have tried to download this on two computers on both it starts loading but right at the end it stops and the bar does not increase why ?????

for anyone saying it says ‘DONE LOADING’
-i had the same problem
-type in %appdata%
-go to your .minecraft
-OPEN IT
-DELETE EVERYTHING (or save it somewere else, folder etc)
then open the minecraft launcher, it should redownload.
-then follow the steps .
Ps: name the minecraft.jar your putting in so it doesnt have (1) or (2) etc. idk if you need to but i did.

Coal Problem Fixed! new blocks! Cooked porkchop texture changed! Chunks loading slower than before:( no new bugs ive noticed yet just alot of fixes :) i hope release version will be ready soon my server users are getting quite restless!
to those who are having problems… if all else fails delete your minecraft, download the 1.7 launcher, let it update replace the minecraft.jar found in /.minecraft/bin/ with the one downloaded from here! and it WILL work
mine does not work???????
i updated beta to 1.8 but it crashes every time i try to log in. is there something im missing?
