PS3 3.70 Firmware Now Available for Download

As previously revealed several hours ago, a new 3.70 firmware will be coming to the PS3 tonight and at last, the firmware is now available for download.

To download the firmware, simply head over to the System Update option on your PS3. If you don’t have Wifi, go download the firmware via the US PlayStation Official website.

Just as a recap as to what the 3.70 firmware will include once it’s patched on the PS3;

– Auto Trophy Sync
The trophies will now automatically sync at a time of the Auto Download feature is happening.

– Recommend Items
On the PlayStation Store, players can now recommend items they purchased.

– New Channels
Since the PS3 have Hulu Plus, Netflix, and VUDU Services, a dedicated channel will be available on the XMB.

As for the 3D updates;

-3D support will now be available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray
– DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.
– 3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.

  1. So basically an update that doesn’t benefit anyone without a 3D or Plus membership.

    Hell, even those WITH Plus membership don’t gain much.

    Seriously Sony, cut these shit updates and give us something worthwhile :/ We’ve only been waiting for cross-chat for a good 2 years or so now.

  2. Actually, the main point of the update is support for the PSP Remasters.

    Unfortunately, considering the small chance that any of them will come to the West (Only announced one so far is Monster Hunter Portable 3) I guess it wasn’t mentioned in the English patch notes.

    How do I know this? I had to grab the link from the Japanese Playstation website as the American and European sites hadn’t updated at the time.
