A new website has been launched that shows an apparent partnership between Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei.
The website shows a countdown that is due to be revealed in 6 days at time of writing. As many of you might know, Namco Bandai develops and publishes the famous Tekken series. Tecmo Koei publishes the Dead or Alive series.
Is it time that we will see the Tekken characters finally battle against the Dead or Alive characters? Capcom and Namco Bandai recently agreed to develop two games based on the Tekken and Street Fighter characters battling each other…
Although Tekken and Dead or Alive may be the best known franchises from both companies, another idea that could make a great game is if the Soul Calibur characters helped defeat armies with the Dynasty Warriors characters. Crossover games are usually fighting games however this could be the first time there’s a crossover hack-n-slash game.
If it’s a game based on the Tekken franchise, the game won’t be released until a few years down the track. Namco Bandai hasn’t even started working on Tekken x Street Fighter yet since Capcom will be releasing Street Fighter x Tekken early next year.
The other thing about Namco Bandai is that there are a number of Tekken related games due to come out in 2012 too. Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken 3D Prime Edition and the unnamed Wii-U Tekken game. Not to mention Soul Calibur V is due out next year too.
If the game turns out to be Tekken x Dead or Alive, both companies could be in for a money maker. Both games have their respected fan bases and both are well known 3D fighting games. As aforementioned, those two games are the most well known properties from both companies and a potential Tekken x Dead or Alive game would make the most sense to produce a crossover game.
Whatever the game is, it’s got me intrigued. Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei publish many great games so there’s a lot of crossover possibilities for both companies to explore. Let’s just hope it’s not a crossover beach volleyball game…Namco x Tecmo Website Launches; Tekken vs. DOA Should Become A Reality,
