Battlefield 3 aims to kill Call of Duty

Alan Kertz the Senior Gameplay Designer on Battlefield 3 has today revealed a number of new details on the upcoming first person shooter; as well as making a bold statement on how to kill off Call of Duty. First Kertz confirmed that on the PS3 and Xbox 360 the number of players in a match would be limited to 24 although PC gamers will be able to have games with up to 64 players in at once.

He went on later to announce via twitter that:

-Players will be able to go prone

– Destruction is important for DICE, as is visual quality and vehicles.

– One of the cities is Tehran.

– The focus of #BF3 isn’t Special Forces… we’ll leave that to MOH.

By far the most interesting point Kertz made was that “You don’t kill COD by trying to be COD. You kill COD by making a better shooter.” Expect to see a FPS top spot war raging between Call of Duty publishers Activision and EA over at least this year!

  1. one multiplayer map, a size greater than red dead redemption. a multitude of different kinds of areas, like forests/industrial complex’s,seas, deserts, rural areas, steel office buildings, malls, ect. random weather/time of day/random time of year ( per multiplayer match ). 24 players per match on a world with no boundries. sometimes enemies respawn in east/west/north/sounth, the direction stays the same for duration of match, but enemies always respawn around 50-100feet from other team. alot of weapons/attachments/customization.

killstreak – 3 – get a uav ( must pilot it and point out enemies you see from sky, for your friends on the ground to kill 4 you.

a new kind of perk – squad weapons. in real life snipers are not used by any one person. they are carried in peices and constructed and used when they are nessessary. maybe sniper rifles could be used by one person in the squad at a time, accessed by the D-pad. when you are done witb the sniper rifle simply put it away, allowing someone else to use it. maybe squad guns could be guns you can’t get access to without using the perk.

also doors( in call of duty there are so many fake doors that you can’t open ) why can’t you turn the knobzz, or shoot the hinges off????

i know the problem with a huge map with only 24 people would be finding people. maybe if no shots are fired for 40 seconds everyones possition is given away for 2 seconds duration, just long enough for people to realize which direction to go in.

    – a gametype where when you die you never respawn in the same match, so you never have to kill same person twice. when in real life do you kill someone, only to have them some back and shoot you in the back, when the enemy couldn’t have known where you were. you using ninja/coldblooded with silecer and guilly suit hiding in long grass, are invisible.

lets have a game about skill( tactics/ military strategy/teamplay ) rather than cod’s A.D.D run and gun in a shoe box crazy-ness.
