Nintendo Lower Hardware Sales Expectations

Nintendo have lowered their expectations on the amount of hardware sales of both of their consoles. Sales must have been low for the Wii as expectations have fallen by half a million units to 17.5 million, although not a patch on the drop in 30 million Wii software sales expectations which is now only 135 million. The Nintendo DS also saw lowered expectations and now fall at 23.5 million a lower forecast than the original 30 million.

By the end of the financial year (March 31st 2011) Nintendo expects to sell 4 million 3DS units, a rather large number with the months counting down. Have hardware sales been dented by the release of the PlayStation Move and Apple iPad? I suppose it won’t have helped Nintendo with such big releases anyway.
