RUMOR: PS2 Games Coming To PSN

With several game developers starting to slow down producing any new games on the aging PlayStation 2 hardware, could the PS2 Games now appear on the PSN, much like PSOne titles have?

Now that the biggest event in the video game industry is fast approaching, many surprises will be revealed. One of the rumored things that is said to be announced at E3 from Sony is the PlayStation Network Premium service. Lately, there have been rumors about PS2 games appearing on the PlayStation 3.

If our sources are indeed to be trusted, PS2 games will start to appear on the PlayStation Network and will be announced at this year’sE3, along with the news about the PSN Premium service. Let’s face it, the PlayStation 2 will soon come to an end and there’s no way Sony will just ditch the platform. With no PS2 backwards compatibility available on the PlayStation 3 console except for the original 20GB and 60GB models, this is the solution for Sony to keep the best PS2 titles alive.

If this is indeed true it looks as if Sony will try to compete with Xbox 360’s Games on Demand service. Xbox 360 gamers have had the glory of downloading not only Xbox Original titles but full Xbox 360 games as well thanks to the Games on Demand service. For now, we’ll wait till E3 if Sony does announce such a plan of this nature to surface.

  1. I dont want Sony to just re-release PS2 games on the store, I want them to make an update that will emulate the PS2 on the PS3 that way I can play the ton of PS2 games that I currently own without having to re-buy them.

  2. if it is coming then all ps3 versions should have it.
60gb’s emulator is far from prefect
