That’s right folks, those crazy guys over at TheSpeedGamers are at it again, attempting to complete all three games in the MOTHER trilogy, better known as EarthBound in the West, in just 48 hours, all the while raising money for Susan G. Komen.
The latest MOTHER marathon will take place on May 7 – that’s this Friday! – for at least 48 hours straight, from 6PM Central Standard Time, and will be streamed over Ustream live broadcasting service, which can be viewed on http://ustream.tv or http://www.thespeedgamers.com, and will also include an IRC chat. The charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, helps raise awareness of breast cancer and fund research to find a cure. Various competitions will be held and prizes given away during the marathon, many of which are donated by parter groups/organizations and members of TheSpeedGamers community.
For some background information, TheSpeedGamers are a group of people from around the world who run live video game marathons in order to raise money for various charities. The group was founded in March 2008 by Britt LaRiviere and a group of friends, and has since expanded to include members and viewers from all over the world, and has managed to raise over $136,000 USD for several charities.
