Red Dead Redemption PS3’s HDD Space Ransom Revealed

PS3 gamers running low on hard drive space may want to do some cleaning up – the required hard drive space for Red Dead Redemption has been revealed.

The asking price is 600 MB of our precious hard drive space. Not too bad considering some games in the past like Fallout 3 and Devil May Cry 4 required a whopping 5 GB to play on the PS3. Still, we’ve been spoiled by more recent games like Uncharted 2, God of War III, and Final Fantasy XIII that required very little to no hard drive space to play and still ran super smoothly. Typically, required installations like this are done for some games and we get better load times etc in return. Methinks it has more to do with the game’s multiplayer component, which may I add looks very promising.

Again, this is required (not an optional install) so those anticipating this game should definitely make sure they have enough HDD space. Not such a big problem for me personally, since I still have around 20 GB left on my PS3’s HDD. I normally don’t mind installations anyway, heck… if it improves things like loading times and results in a smoother online experience, I’m all for it!

As a side note, this is a relatively small price to pay for PS3 owners considering they’ll be getting some tasty exclusive content.

Red Dead Redemption releases for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next week on May 18th. Stick with us for our full written review coming up soon.

  1. Especially not a problem for me, i have about 463 gigs left on my hard drive.

  2. This is the reason why owning a PS3 is the best, you are not bound to a proprietary HDD space like the 360….you can put as much as you want on the PS3 which is why I don’t see why people bitch and whine about installing shit…get a bigger fucken hard drive…PROBLEM FIXED!

  3. Does it look better on 360 or PS3? I need to know which version to get and there’s only gay talk about the ps3 version being 644p… omfg I don’t care. Are the textures of higher quality on PS3 or does microsoft have rockstar so deep in their pockets that that they can’t figure out a way to get higher fidelity out of 30gb of space?
