Dariusburst Taking Off Soon According to ESRB

We love the ESRB for two things: entertaining game descriptions and leaking games before they’re even officially announced (see: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for PSN and XBLA).

ESRB has rated the PSP side-scrolling shooter, Dariusburst, previously released in Japan last December on UMD and as a digital download. This follows the recently filed US-Trademark and Germany’s USK rating for the game. Still waiting for an official announcement regarding price and a release date from Square Enix…

Those unfamiliar with side-scrolling shooters are lucky since ESRB has done my job for me and explained it all for you guys. Thanks ESRB!

This is an arcade-style space shooter in which players control a small craft that shoots projectiles and lasers at enemy ships, missiles, turrets, and robots. From a side-scrolling perspective, players navigate through outer space while shooting at the numerous enemy units. Ships, objects, and enemies explode when hit, sometimes with realistic or slow-motion effects.

Sounds like your everyday side-scrolling shooter to me. Though that’s not a bad thing at all since I personally love the genre. If it does release this month, May will officially be the side-scrolling shooter month with games like RayStorm HD and Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype also on May’s schedule.

Like the other Darius games, we can expect a more aquatic theme complete with robotic fish enemies too. Yum.
