Tales of Graces beating MW2 in Japan

The latest game in Namco’s award winning RPG series went head to head with the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in Japan, with Tales of Graces trumping Infinity Ward’s title in sales.

The Wii RPG Tales of Graces sold 110,000 copies on the first day of release, with Modern Warfare 2 selling 106,000 units across both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. RPGs have always been the most popular genre in Japan, and series’ that are not well known here such as Dragon Quest and Megami Tensei are hailed in Japan as some of the greatest series’ ever.

This could be grounds for an international release of Tales of Graces which has a story said to span over 70 hours of gameplay.
